Depression is like a fan in the desert blowing warm air on someone suffering from heat exhaustion. It kills your desires to do anything, and it leaves your walk with God void of zeal. God's word tells us to cast our cares on Jesus, (1 Peter 5:7 "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you") but how do we literally do this? I'll be revealing what depression really is, and will give you a powerful prayer that will remove depression instantly!
Depression is the result of a person's spirit heavily weighed down by a spiritual and literal weight, that weight is lead. In Zechariah 5 we get an amazing description of lead and it's spiritual implications. Zechariah at this point has been taken into the spirit by the Lord and is seeing several spiritual events play out, namely heaven's provision being sent to the Earth to build the nation of Babylon. Zechariah 5:11 "11 And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base." The land of Shinar is first mentioned in Genesis 10:10, eventually becoming Babylon. We know this because Babylon and Shinar are interchangeably used to describe the same location in in Daniel 1:1-2.(https://bibleatlas.org/shinar.htm).
In this basket of spiritual provision, a female spirit is described to be sitting inside with lead in her mouth. "7 And, behold, there was lifted up a talent of lead: and this is a woman that sitteth in the midst of the ephah. 8 And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof." Who is this female spirit receiving the weight of lead in her mouth? The spirit of whoredome, the whore of Babylon mentioned in Revelation 17:4-5 "And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5 And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth." You can seen now how wickedness brings the spiritual weight of sin, but how does that weight effect us?
As we understand the location this spiritual weight is applied, we will discover it's many entry ways that places this weight of depression on us. In Daniel 9-10 we see how Daniel seeks the Lord for deliverance of the Israelites and is given a word by the angel Gabriel telling him that the Messiah is coming within 70 weeks to end sin and rebuild Jerusalem. But later when he's given another angelic encounter, the angel gives him a greater understanding on the timeframe of the Messiah's first return, Daniel 10:14 "Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days; for yet the vision is for many days" Right after hearing this, Daniel collapses to the ground and becomes dumb, unable to speak... but why? Daniel says so himself, "by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength." Daniel understood the Israelites would suffer much longer than anticipated and all this suffering would only be prolonged. All at once, this placed the weight of lead in his mouth, causing him to fall and also revealing that God's wisdom can also place this weight of lead on our spirit.
Sin brings sorrow, and this is what we know as depression. Look at prophet Samuel's reaction after God told him that Saul was rejected as king, 1 Samuel 16:1 "And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? ..." Adding to the first point, even the closeness you have to someone can cause you to carry the weight of their sin, adding spiritual lead to your spirit. This is why soul ties can be so destructive, you end up sharing the weight of their sin (This has no effect on salvation or atonement, you're simply sharing a weight)!
So where does this weight of lead go, and how can we remove it? Lamentations 1:14 Connects the weight of sin to a weight on a yoke, "The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up."
Yokes are are a device that connects an animal's neck to a weight, and the word of God tells us it is the same for us. This is one of the many things Jesus came to set us free from, Isaiah 10:27 "Ho
Look at the picture to the left, it's easy to now understand how a yoke that is made of lead could weight someone down and cause them to have no interest in anything. They're already burdened before they can even touch a real weight!
This is why Jesus feel on his face while praying before his crucifixion. He was taking on the weight of the mankind's sin, the weight all our lead! Matthew 26:39 "And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt" This is also what scripture is referring to when it describes Jesus' sorrow he endured. says, Isaiah 53:3 "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised..." He knew the depths of our wickedness and depression was his acquaintance.
The weight of lead on a person's spiritual yoke is placed on the neck, and it's this weight that manifests as depression. This is what 2 Corinthians 6:14 is referring to when it says, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers..." This is where our prayer will target, removing the yoke off the neck and if you're ready to receive freedom, begin reading the prayer below out loud!

Give it a minute, simply speak it in faith and trust that Jesus will remove it!

Depression is an extremely complex problem because many things can manifest as depression (specifically a demon of depression). We are also limited by our own understanding to even accurately discern our issues, this is why we need the Holy Spirit to lead us in EVERYTHING. If you didn't feel anything, there are a few things listed below that are other places and things that lead can effect.
Having soul ties with anyone but your spouse will bring the other person's yoke of lead. Break the soul tie and start to create emotional lines in the sand.
Connection to dead people, having soul ties with people that have diseased can cause literal pain in the bones. Break soul ties with dead family, friends, celebrities, and let them go (quick guide on how to get over losing a loved one, God's way).
Are you living in sin? This is obvious but watching pornography, lusting after others, gossip and many other things brings lead to the yoke like white on rice.
Idols bring lead, Samson fell asleep on Delilah's knees. Check your heart and see who's knees you're bowing to, unknowingly idolizing people, family, jobs, pet, and more brings the yoke of lead on your eyelids causing spiritual blindness.
Stop talking about your sin and the sin of others! Sin is literal lead, it's poisonous! Stop talking about your past mistakes and the mistakes of others, you bring lead upon yourself when you do this!
