The Self-Deliverance Guide: Breaking Demonic Oppression & Receiving Full Freedom | Steps & Prayers

Updated: Apr 26, 2023

Please use this blog post as a guide and reusable resource! Share the freedom Jesus has blessed you with!

The word of God tells us we do not struggle against the world we see, rather we fight against unseen wickedness in the spiritual world. 2 Corinthians 10: 3-6 & Ephesians 6: 10-18 says the enemy we are fighting against isn't a person or a chemical imbalance causing depression, it's rulers of darkness, principalities, spiritual wickedness, the Devil and his fallen angels, and our own thoughts against God! Any reoccurring depression is brought on by an evil spirit, PTSD can be brought on by an evil spirit. Look at the issue your facing and boil it down to it's function. Quick example, if you're dealing with anger, it could be a demonic spirit of anger. So you'd identify it as a "demonic spirit of anger".

I don't know what you've been through, what trauma you've suffered, or what sin you're struggling with but Jesus knows. He has been with you through all of it and he is with you now. Jesus paid for so much on the cross, to give you salvation, healing, purpose, and peace. Your freedom from all demonic oppression was one of the things he paid for on the cross. Let him free you, he wants you free.

First Steps

Before rebuking the enemy

  1. Forgive everyone and lay down bitterness

  2. Humble yourself, Jesus paid for your freedom on the cross, it’s not any “right words” or specially anointed person. Only Jesus Christ through his love and mercy has given you access to freedom.

  3. Declare your faith in Jesus, confess he is your Lord

  4. Confess all known sin.

  5. Repent of all known sin, ask to be released from the punishment of all your sin.

  6. Break off all ties and renounce any lack of faith, the occult and false religion (confess and repent if needed).

  7. Thank Jesus for all that he’s done for you.

  8. Have the faith and get ready to take your stand with God.

Quick Tips

The prayers below are very important because you are exercising your authority, but there are a couple more tips I wanted to mention. Use them along side your prayers:

  • Use the word of God against them, read verses that are in opposition to the demonic spirit you're coming against.

  • Preach the love of Jesus to them.

  • Speak to them like a disobedient child, they are stubborn!

  • As the demons exit they might begin to manifest, anywhere from yawning, sneezing, and throwing up to burping.

Prayer Guide

Please read the following text out loud in faith and receive your freedom!

Holy Spirit, please protect and guide me through this. Thank you Lord Jesus, that through your sacrifice you have given me power and authority over Satan. In the name of Jesus Christ, I am against you Satan, the Lord is against you Satan, the blood of Jesus is against you! “The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee”

  • In the name of Jesus Christ I claim my authority and rebuke you off me Satan!

  • I command all oppressing spirits to leave me now, in the name of Jesus Christ.

Rinse and repeat until you feel it leave you, then give God some praise for what he’s done!

Conclusion

This can take anywhere from 10 mins to 2 hours so be ready for it. Deliverance is also a process, it might take a few sessions until you're fully delivered. The bullet points I noted out are simply guide lines to frame your commandments, not exact words.

Getting delivered and staying delivered is a major part of our walk in Christ, don't get discouraged if you received partial deliverance, these things are stubborn! Be just as stubborn against them and continue to have faith. Not every deliverance has a manifestation as well. One thing I can say is God wants to teach you something before you receive certain levels of deliverance, so be like Paul and rejoice no matter what you're going through!

(Paul was trying to receive deliverance from a demonic spirit when God responded to him!)

2 Corinthians 12:9-11

"And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."

What if Nothing Changes? (After a season)

I want you to understand something, this is a battle. A battle of the flesh, a battle in the spirit, and you have to truly want this freedom. It took me a year to be delivered of the demonic spirit of lust, but I had to hate it before God set me free. No matter the circumstance, you only have to submit to God, resist the Devil and he WILL flee from you (James 4:7).

If it's a problem in the flesh, believe that the God we serve is more than able to heal all issues both big and small! Never give up the faith, never give up your hope, you have a family in Christ who loves you and are hear for you!

With all my heart, I pray the Lord heals you, guides you, and blesses you in the name of Jesus Christ.
